Follow Andrew Lambrou
Andrew Lambrou is unleashing his heartbreak onto the world (well, Europe) and we’re here for it!
The Introduction
“I see you for who you are but you can’t broken heart
I’m not sure what it is about songs that have a revolving theme of heartbreak. I suppose it has just become a personality trait, even when I’m in the middle of a happy, thriving relationship I am heartbroken.
The Artist
In 2015, Andrew Lambrou competed in the 7th season of The X-Factor Australia, where he placed Top 20, and was eliminated just before the live shows. Five years later in 2020, Andrew began releasing stand-alone singles which failed to chart in any territory. In October 2022, it was announced that Andrew would represent Cypress in the Eurovision song contest. Shortly after he was signed to Panik Records, and in early March released the song “Break A Broken Heart”.
The Song
Oh I miss your kiss, gasoline, and a matchstick
Red Lights, flashes, rising from the ashes…
Cypress’ Eurovision Entry for 2023, is Andrew Lambrou’s Break A Broken Heart. Honestly, I’m unsure if I love the song because of his emotional vocals and lyrics, or the very dramatic music video, but the lyrics are haunting me. Since I first heard this song it hasn’t left my head.
The Contest
As we have previously discussed, the Eurovision song contest is well on its way. Andrew Lambrou is set to perform in the semi-finale on 11 May 2023 in the first half of the competition.
The Conclusion
I believe that there is a great chance that Break A Broken Heart can go far in the Eurovision competition. Do I think it’s the winner, I cannot be for certain, because there are equally as heartbreaking songs from other countries. I do however believe that this is the start of a long and beautiful career of a very talented singer.
