Coco Jones breathes new life into her single “ICU” with a remix featuring Justin Timberlake. The R&B ballad was first released in 2022 as the 2nd single from Jones’ What I didn’t tell you’ LP and was her first song to feature on the Billboard Hot 100 chart peaking at #63.
I can’t think of a more perfect artist to hop on “ICU” than Justin. He is famous himself for crafting this kind of emotional and powerful songs for his own musical catalog. Think for example “Until the end of time” from FSLS or “Still on my brain” from his Justified album just to name a few.
Timberlake blends perfectly on “ICU” delivering his classic background vocals that makes any song instantly richer. He is an amazing compliment to Jones’ powerhouse vocals. Both hit the high notes effortlessly over the track and Timberlake also contributes a very nice sing/talking section on his intro verse thats very pleasing to the ears.
This marks JT’s first musical appearance of the year. In 2022 he made guest appearances on several projects like Calvin Harris “Stay With Me“ and Romeo Santos “Sin Fin“. It feels like a blessing every time Justin pops on someone’s song cause it’s very rare these days and he hasn’t released a proper album since 2018’s “Man of the Woods” so we will take what we can get.
Speaking of the collab, Coco Jones gushed about Timberlake saying:
“It was so amazing watching him just be creative. We were collaborating on ideas, and I feel like [“ICU”] is nostalgic … so having his voice on it, and that soul, that element he brings … it’s going to be amazing.”
She also adds
“he’s such a legend and he really supports me, so I’m really really happy to have this collaboration. I feel like it’s gonna shake y’all up!”
And oh boy did it shake me up!
