Follow Daisy Jones & The Six
Daisy Jones & The Six is entirely fictional. Author Taylor Jenkins Reid created the band in her best-selling novel by the same name. This month, Amazon released the series based on the book, which has garnered the attention of millions of viewers.
Daisy Jones & The Six is a band loosely based on Fleetwood Mac. The album, “Aurora” brings us all back to the 70s era of music. The artists; Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) accompanied by the other members of The Six, attempt to create their own “Rumors.” I’m sorry to report, that while I am a fan of the album, nothing will ever top “Rumors” in my mind, and many others.
The harmonies that Claflin and Keough create tell the stories beautifully. The only issue I have is if we were in the 70s and this album was going up against the artists of that time, it wouldn’t see the time of day. As a tribute band, they would get praise, but not on their own.
This is one of the reasons I only rank this album a 6 (no pun intended, seriously). The people that helped create this album had an unlimited budget and extremely talented A-list artists signed on. People like Phoebe Bridgers, Jackson Browne, and Marcus Mumford were integral to the making of this album, but somehow it doesn’t get off the ground.
However, the show is amazing. The chemistry between Sam Claflin and Riley Keough is palpable and they bring the characters to life, just how I imagined it.
You should absolutely check out both the show and the album. You won’t be disappointed, just remember this isn’t Fleetwood Mac and is just a story.
