Demi LovatoDemi Lovato is making a bold move in their career; directing. They have signed on to a Documentary with Hulu, the Disney owned company, follows the trauma that child stars face.

“Child Star” will be released in 2024 and has will have a co-director, Nicola Marsh. The film will “deconstruct the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world’s most famous former child stars, including Lovato,” says the official press release.

We all know that child stars face and incredible amount of pressure and criticism and are often exposed to a world that most adults have a hard time navigating. They are essentially sold to a company and used until they either physically cannot do the job anymore of they become more trouble than they are worth.

While there are a few “child stars” that have made it out unscathed (Jessica Biel, Scarlett Johansson), most are facing demons that most of us could not fathom. I am very excited for Demi’s input and approach on the doc. They obviously has the knowledge and experience to not only shine a light on this, but treat its cast with the respect and softness that they may need.

I’m looking forward to learning more about this project; I am glad that this platform is being given to people who deserve to be heard and share a warning for those who are so dire to jump into this world head first.
