Ed Sheeran took to TikTok to do a surprise announcement of his next single. He played a snippet of his upcoming single, “Eyes Closed.” His album “-” (pronounced, subtract) will be released in May. But, the single will be released on March 24th. On Wednesday, he posted on Instagram with some details about the meaning behind the song.

Ed Sheeran celebrates where life has taken him
Ed shared on Instagram that his original vision for this album took a major turn after a series of events took place at the beginning of 2022.
“Within the space of a month, my pregnant wife got told she had a tumour, with no route to treatment until after the birth. My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly, and I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a songwriter. I was spiraling through fear, depression, and anxiety. I felt like I was drowning, head below the surface, looking up but not being able to break through for air.”
Will Ed make an appearance on The Eras Tour to promote his new album? Seriously, he’s done it in the past and it would be perfect timing!
