Kylie’s “Padam Padam” is life!

We don't need to use our words...

Kylie Minogue

I would like to live in a world where Kylie Minogue (just Kylie) is queen…

Following the magic (reference) that is ‘Disco’, Kylie has unleashed onto the world Can’t Get You Out of My Head 2.0 with “Padam Padam”

(in fact, she debuted the song on American Idol alongside ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’, which honestly was kind of random).

The Artist

Not many people “get” pop music the way Kylie gets pop music, but she absolutely 100% gets it. Dating as far back as her 1986 debut with ‘Locomotion’ and its follow-up ‘I Should Be So Lucky’, she just gets it. She has tried other genres of music including 1997’s ‘Impossible Princess’ and 2018’s “Golden” (if I’m gonna go out, I wanna go out dancing aye-I-I-I) but no matter how indie-alt or country Kylie goes, she always returns to her pop roots, including her 2000 resurgence with ‘Spinning Around.

To date, Kylie has released 15 studio albums (with her 16th due out in September), and seventy-eight whopping singles. She has sold over 80 million records worldwide. Like many pop stars before her she has had a difficult time keeping relevant on the charts around the world, but, thanks to the gays (!!) on TikTok, Padam Padam is set to be the song of the summer.

The Song

We honestly don’t know where to begin, well, the track originally leaked online in early May in low quality, and it didn’t give the best interpretation of the song. Following the LQ leak of Padam several other tracks expected on the album also leaked… it appeared that by the time the album was due out in September, the whole album would be available, but thankfully the leaks have been plugged and we can focus our energy and attention on the gem that is Padam Padam.

The original version comes in at a dreadful 2 minutes and 46 seconds, but, unlike most artists these days the whole 2 minutes and 46 seconds leave you feeling refreshed, whereas, others leave you wanting more. I could honestly listen to Padam Padam on repeat for six hours without even noticing it, in fact, this may very well have already occurred during my recent trip to London, where it was also played at least 15 times an hour at Mighty Hoopla (and about 20 more times at subsequent clubs around London after). There is an alternate ‘extended mix’ which is really just the standard version of a song that wasn’t released in 2023.

FUN FACT: Padam Padam has charted at #12 in the UK and is Kylie’s highest charting single in the United Kingdom since 2014’s “Into The Blue”, the track is expected to continue to climb the charts. Further, the track has peaked at #39 in Kylie’s native Australia which is her highest charting single since 2012’s “Timebomb”.

The Conclusion

There are not enough words in the English language to describe how excited I am for the upcoming album that ‘Padam Padam’ is featured on. We absolutely love love love love this song and we want you to love it too!
