Swifties have a new goal to get behind. The release of “Lavender Haze” marks Taylor Swift’s 27th Top 10 single. She is currently tied with Maroon 5, which means her next single, will break the record.
In an Instagram video giving a glimpse behind the meaning of “Lavender Haze,” Taylor explains, “I happened upon the phrase ‘lavender haze’ when I was watching Mad Men. I looked it up because I thought it sounded cool. And it turns out that it’s a common phrase used in the ’50s where they would describe being in love. If you’re in the ‘lavender haze,’ then that meant you were in that all-encompassing love glow. And I thought that was really beautiful.”
Taylor has continuously pushed herself with her artistry during the entire creation of “Midnights.” She has donned many hats including; singer, songwriter, producer, and director. We would like to dub her “Queen” of creativity officially.
The “Lavender Haze” music video was released the same day as the single. It follows the visual cues from her previous singles. She wrote in a Twitter post, “This was the first video I wrote out of the 3 that have been released, and this one really helped me conceptualize the world and mood of Midnights, like a sultry sleepless 70’s fever dream. Hope you like it.”
