Barbzzzz!!!!! Nicki Minaj is back with a new banger, “Barbie World (with Aqua)“. This time its for the “Barbie Movie Soundtrack”
It would be a crime not to include Nicki Minaj (who is this music industry’s indisputable Barbie) on this project.
The song features up and coming rapper Ice Spice and samples Aqua’s 1997 hit “Barbie Girl”
Both rappers trade ferocious verses on the pop-styled beat, which is perfect for a summer pool party. My favorite line? Nicki’s
“It’s Barbie Bitch if you are still in doubt”
Which reassures her status and also feels like an homage to Britney’s iconic intro on “Gimme More.” It makes total sense since Nicki is such a huge Britney stan.
The video for the song which was directed by Hanna Lux Davies is literally a Barbie dream World. Complete with Barbie’s dream house, pink convertibles and jet-skies. Its a full eye candy/campy clip and I’m here for it.
The song is definitely a bop but its a shame its only 1:49 minutes long and even tho it sounds very complete, I could have used one extra minute of this musical perfection.
“Barbie the Movie” and it’s official soundtrack release on July 23rd, 2023; we cannot wait.
