On Saturday, April 8th ET broke the news that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn split after six years. As soon as the news hit the internet, all hell broke loose. Every single news source covered the report for multiple days. Actually, they still are.
This begs the question, are the relationships about celebrities fair game? It is one thing if they are open about the relationship and go to events and highly publicized places together. But, what if they are rarely spotted together, and never publicly discuss each other? In our opinion, that is where privacy should be honored.
Taylor Swift never discusses her relationships
Sure her music clearly is about her previous relationships, but not once has she come out and said yes, “All Too Well” is about Jake Gyllenhaal. Everyone speculates and the world believes they are in the know about the relationship. Previously in an interview with The Guardian in 2019, Taylor discussed the boundaries she has set about sharing her relationships:
“I’ve learned that if I do, people think it’s up for discussion, and our relationship isn’t up for discussion,” she says, laughing after I attempt a stealthy angle. “If you and I were having a glass of wine right now, we’d be talking about it – but it’s just that it goes out into the world. That’s where the boundary is, and that’s where my life has become manageable. I really want to keep it feeling manageable.”
So, while we are technically reporting that Taylor and Joe broke up, we are not going to do a deep dive into every aspect of the relationship. Whether they are together or not, we wish them well. Another thing we wish for? Tickets to The Eras Tour. If you have extra, send them our way.
