Tove Lo is back with an incredible new single, “I like u.” The TimFromTheHouse produced dance track serves as a bonus track to the ever growing deluxe edition of her latest LP “Dirt Femme.”
One thing I absolutely love about Tove Lo is her ability to create music that consistently feels authentic and honest. Regardless of the style of the beat she’s working with, lyrically a Tove Lo song is a Tove Lo song. She might be high, she might be sad, but she’s going to feel sexy and pass that feeling along to her listener. “I like u” is an excellent addition to her catalogue; since premiering as an artist in 2014, she has released nothing but fantastic, sad-girl dance pop.
Tove Lo La-la-likes you
The video treatment for the single plays as a night out with Tove Lo. She is at a karaoke bar and having a grand-ol-time while performing the track to an empty room. The low-quality, hand-held camera style video fits the vibe of the song, as it feels like something she is sharing with a friend.
While she is no longer signed to a major label (thank god), she has been creating some of the best music of her career as an independent artist. I am beyond excited to see what Ms. Lo does next. As for now, she is doing her festival tour and probably padding the bank to fund the next venture; and we will be here waiting to support, stream and whatever the heck else we can do to ensure she has the ability to create.
