Madonna and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” winner Bob the Drag Queen will be celebrating Trans Rights and fighting back against new oppressive laws. The concert is part of Madonna’s upcoming “The Celebration Tour.” The tour will stop in Nashville on December 22nd (Merry Christmas to us!). Additionally, some of the proceeds will go to various trans rights organizations.

On Instagram Madonna said, “The oppression of the LGBTQ+ is not only unacceptable and inhumane; it’s creating an unsafe environment; making America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color. Also, these so-called laws protect. our children are unfounded and pathetic. Anyone with half a brain knows not to fuck with a drag queen. Bob and I will see you from the stage in Nashville where we will celebrate the beauty that is the Queer community!”

Effective July 1, 2023, this law states anyone partaking in what they are referring to as an “adult cabaret performance” could face penalties including jail time for multiple offenses.

“‘Adult cabaret performance’ means a performance in a location other than an adult cabaret that features topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators who provide entertainment that appeals to a prurient interest, or similar entertainers, regardless of whether or not performed for consideration” – via the Tennessee Government

The attention and conversation about this new law will not end here. Freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and human decency are under fire. Ironically the law takes effect the week after Nashville Pride. I’m not a psychic, but I have a feeling that this year, Nashville will host the biggest pride parade in the world.
